Navasota is the largest city in Grimes County, an established town of roughly 7,800 on Highway 6 with a real downtown, older commercial buildings, and residential lots that look more like a small city than the open acreage north of it. Work here splits between the two: commercial build-out and turnover for the storefronts, offices, and rental property along and around Highway 6, and straightforward homeowner work β€” fences, drainage, carports β€” on in-town and edge-of-town lots.

Navasota also sits inside Grimes County, which has been in national news as the reported location of a semiconductor and AI campus valued publicly at $55 billion to $119 billion on an approved 22,429-acre reinvestment zone. Silverheels Construction is not part of that project and claims no affiliation with it; we note it only as public news, since it is changing the pace of commercial activity across the whole county, Navasota included.

On the commercial side, Navasota's activity runs along Highway 6 and the downtown around it β€” storefronts changing hands, offices being reconfigured, restaurants and retail fitting out older space, and rental property turning over between tenants. Much of that building stock has some age to it, which is part of the job: walls that are not square, floors that are not level, and previous build-outs left in place behind the finishes. We investigate before we demo so the budget reflects what is actually there, and we work in occupied buildings and shared downtown blocks without shutting the neighbors down.

On the homeowner side, Navasota is town lots and small acreage at the edges, not open ranch land. Fences are about a straight line, square corners, and a gate that works on a surveyed lot with close neighbors; drainage is about flat ground and heavy Brazos-bottom clay that holds water against the foundation; and carports are sited to fit a lot and the city's setbacks. The soils near the river bottom move with moisture, so posts and footings are set for that rather than to a minimum that leans after the first wet winter.

Inside the city, work goes through Navasota's permitting rather than the county's, and a commercial change of use can bring accessibility, exiting, and life-safety requirements a simple refresh does not. We determine what a specific project triggers before the design is set, so a permit review does not send the job back to the drawing board after a lease clock has already started.

Navasota sits where Highway 6 crosses the old rail and farm roads that built it, which is why its commercial core reads like a real downtown and its neighborhoods like a settled small city. That setting β€” platted lots, city utilities, city rules, and buildings with some history β€” is a different job from the acreage north of town, and these pages are written for it rather than treating every Grimes County address as the same. Working both sides from our Houston base also means an owner or a manager here deals with one contractor across the kinds of work a small city actually needs β€” a build-out on Highway 6, a rental turned between tenants, a fence and a drainage fix at the house β€” rather than assembling a different crew for each.

For a property manager running several Navasota rentals, or a commercial landlord turning space on Highway 6, that one-contractor approach is the point β€” a predictable standard, a single point of contact, and a turnaround that does not depend on reassembling a crew from scratch every time a unit or a storefront comes open. It is also why the homeowner and commercial work below share one Navasota page set rather than living in two separate directories.

The pages below cover what we have built out for Navasota specifically β€” the commercial and homeowner services written for an established small-city setting rather than open ranch land.
