A kitchen remodel is the highest-impact project in most Houston homes and the one where the budget gets away from people fastest. The reason is usually scope creep β€” moving everything around instead of upgrading what's there. We remodel kitchens across the Houston area with a clear line around what we do: the cabinets, countertops, tile, flooring, and finishes that make up the look and the bulk of the value, working within the existing layout. Moving plumbing or electrical is a separate scope we don't take on, and keeping those where they are is also the single biggest way to keep a remodel affordable.

What a kitchen remodel includes

A kitchen renovation is really several trades stacked in a small, high-traffic room, and we self-perform the ones that make up most of it: cabinets, countertops, tile and backsplash, flooring, drywall repair, and paint, plus setting the sink, faucet, and appliances in place.

Where the line is: we work within your existing layout. Moving plumbing or electrical β€” relocating the sink, adding circuits, moving the range β€” is a separate scope we don't take on. We'll tell you clearly at the start what's in and what's out, so the plan is built around it instead of stalling on it halfway through.

Cabinets and islands

Cabinets are the biggest visual and budget piece of a kitchen, and there's more than one way to get there.

Kitchen cabinet installation: new cabinets set level and plumb, doors and drawers aligned, and scribed to the walls β€” which in an older Houston home are rarely straight. Where the boxes are sound, refacing or repainting the existing cabinets transforms the kitchen for a fraction of replacement.

Kitchen island installation: adding an island for prep space and seating, built and set to match the rest of the kitchen. An island that stays within the existing floor plan β€” no relocated plumbing or electrical running to it β€” is a straightforward add; one that needs services run to it moves into a scope we don't take on, and we'll flag that early.

Countertops and backsplash

Countertops and backsplash are where a kitchen reads as finished. We set countertops β€” quartz, granite, and the other common surfaces β€” level and supported, with clean seams and edges.

Backsplash installation is tile work, and it's detail work: the layout has to be planned off the counter and the range so the pattern lands right and the cuts fall where they're least seen. Done well, the backsplash is the detail that pulls the cabinets and counters together; done fast, it's crooked grout lines you notice every time you cook. We take the time to lay it out before we set a single tile.

Flooring, drywall, and paint

The surfaces around the cabinets are what make the whole room feel new, and they're core to what we do.

Flooring that stands up to a kitchen and to Houston humidity β€” luxury vinyl plank and tile are the workhorses here. Drywall repair where old cabinets and backsplash came off, and where the layout changed. And paint, cut in clean around the new cabinets and trim. Because we handle the demo, the surfaces, and the finishes in-house, the room comes together as one job instead of a relay between separate trades.

Small kitchen remodels and updates

Not every kitchen needs to be gutted. A small kitchen remodel β€” the highest-return version β€” leaves the layout alone and upgrades what you see and touch: new or refaced cabinets, fresh countertops and backsplash, updated flooring, new paint, and new hardware.

Because nothing moves β€” the sink, range, and outlets stay where they are β€” there's no plumbing or electrical relocation, which is exactly what keeps the cost and the timeline down. For a lot of Houston kitchens that feel dated rather than broken, this is the smart project: most of the visual payoff of a full remodel at a fraction of the disruption.

What a kitchen remodel costs in Houston

Kitchen remodel cost in Houston spans a wide range, and the single biggest fork is whether the layout stays put. A cosmetic-to-midrange remodel that keeps the plumbing and electrical where they are β€” new cabinets or refacing, counters, backsplash, flooring, and paint β€” is meaningfully less than a full gut that moves everything.

What moves your number: cabinets (new versus refaced), the countertop material, how much tile and flooring, the condition of what's behind the old finishes, and whether the layout changes. Keeping the sink, range, and outlets in place avoids the separate plumbing and electrical scope entirely and is the biggest lever on cost. These are ranges, not quotes β€” we price after seeing the kitchen.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Houston?

It spans a wide range. A remodel that keeps the layout β€” new or refaced cabinets, counters, backsplash, flooring, and paint β€” costs meaningfully less than a full gut that relocates everything. Cabinets, countertop material, and how much the layout changes are the biggest drivers. We quote after seeing the kitchen.

Do you move plumbing or electrical for a kitchen remodel?

No. Moving plumbing or electrical is a separate scope we don't take on. We work within your existing layout β€” cabinets, countertops, tile, flooring, drywall, and paint, and setting the sink and fixtures in place β€” and tell you where that line is up front.

Can you install new cabinets, reface existing ones, or add an island?

Yes to all three. New cabinets set level and scribed to the walls, refacing or repainting where the boxes are sound, and islands built to match β€” as long as the island doesn't need plumbing or electrical run to it, which is a separate scope.

Do you do countertops and backsplash?

Yes. We set countertops level and supported with clean seams, and install tile backsplash laid out off the counter and range so the pattern and cuts land right. The backsplash is detail work and we plan it before setting a tile.

Can you do a small kitchen update on a budget?

Yes, and it's often the smart move. Leaving the layout alone and upgrading cabinets, counters, backsplash, flooring, paint, and hardware gets most of the visual payoff of a full remodel without the cost of relocating plumbing and electrical.

Do you handle the flooring and paint too?

Yes β€” flooring, drywall repair, and paint are core to what we do, so the whole room comes together as one job. Luxury vinyl plank and tile are the flooring workhorses for a Houston kitchen.
