Every remodel starts with demolition, and it's the step that quietly decides how the rest of the job goes. Done carelessly, demo damages the framing, floors, and finishes that are supposed to stay, turns into a dust problem through the whole house, and leaves you with a pile nobody hauls off. We're a demolition contractor working across the Houston area β interior and selective demolition done to protect what stays, plus the tear-out and haul-away that leaves the space clean and ready.
Interior and selective demolition
Interior demolition is taking a space back to studs β or back to whatever layer the next phase needs. Selective demolition is the harder, more careful version: removing specific things while protecting everything around them.
That's most of what this work actually is. Taking out a wall without cracking the ceiling that ties into it, pulling cabinets without gouging the floor that's staying, opening up a room without knowing what's behind the drywall until you're into it. We work carefully around what stays, control the dust, protect finished floors and adjacent rooms, and stop to check before cutting into anything that might be structural. Removing the wrong wall is an expensive mistake, so we identify load-bearing walls before they come out.
Tear-out and haul-away
Demolition and removal are one job to us, not two. There's no point tearing something out if you're left standing over the debris waiting on a separate hauler.
We tear out and haul away in the same visit β the material comes out, gets loaded, and leaves the property, and the space gets swept up behind it. Whether it's a single room's worth of old finishes or a full gut, the debris is our problem, not yours. You come back to a clean space, not a dumpster you now have to deal with.
Flooring, tile, and popcorn ceiling removal
The messiest tear-outs are the ones people most want off their plate.
Tile removal: floor and wall tile chipped out down to the substrate, including the thinset and backer that the new floor won't sit right over. Tile is slow, heavy, and dusty to remove, which is exactly why it's worth handing off.
Carpet removal: carpet, pad, and tack strip pulled and hauled, floor left clean for whatever goes down next.
Popcorn ceiling removal: scraped down, with the dust contained and the ceiling left ready to be finished smooth or retextured. On older Houston homes we treat popcorn carefully, because pre-1980s texture can contain materials that shouldn't just be dry-scraped and thrown around.
Cabinet, concrete, and built-in removal
Cabinet removal: kitchen and bath cabinets, vanities, and built-ins pulled out ahead of a remodel β carefully when they're being reused or donated, fast when they're headed for the trailer.
Concrete removal: breaking out and hauling off walkways, small slabs, patios, and pads. We handle the residential-scale concrete demo that comes with a remodel or a hardscape change.
Built-ins and fixtures: shelving, old paneling, and the odds and ends a room accumulates that have to come out before anything new goes in.
Deck, shed, hot tub, and appliance removal
The backyard and the garage collect the big, awkward things nobody wants to deal with, and getting rid of them is half the battle.
We handle deck removal, fence removal, and shed removal β tearing down the structure, pulling the posts and footings, and hauling it all off so the yard is clear. Hot tub removal is a common one: an old spa is heavy, awkward, and usually has to be cut apart to get it out, which is a job in itself.
We also haul off old appliances during a tear-out. Anything still connected to gas, water, or hardwired power has to be disconnected first β that disconnection is a separate scope we don't take on β but once it's free, it goes on the trailer with everything else.
What demolition and removal costs in Houston
Demolition and removal are priced by how much comes out, how hard it is to get out, and what it costs to dispose of. A single-room tear-out is a known quantity; a full gut or a hot-tub-and-deck backyard clear-out scales from there.
What moves the number: the volume and weight of the debris (tile and concrete are heavy and drive disposal cost), how much protection and careful selective work is involved versus a straight gut, access β a second-floor tear-out carried down and out costs more than a garage you can back a trailer up to β and disposal fees for the material. These are ranges, not quotes. We look at what's coming out and give you a real number.
Frequently asked questions
Do you haul away the debris too, or just tear it out?
Both, in the same visit. Demolition and removal are one job β the material comes out, gets loaded, and leaves the property, and we sweep up behind it. You're not left standing over a pile waiting on a separate hauler.
Can you remove just part of a room without damaging the rest?
Yes β that's selective demolition, and it's most of what we do. We work carefully around what stays, control the dust, protect finished floors and adjacent rooms, and check before cutting into anything that might be load-bearing.
Do you remove popcorn ceilings?
Yes β scraped down with the dust contained and the ceiling left ready to finish smooth or retexture. On older Houston homes we handle pre-1980s texture carefully, since it can contain materials that shouldn't just be dry-scraped.
Can you take out an old hot tub, shed, or deck?
Yes. Sheds, decks, and fences get torn down, posts and footings pulled, and everything hauled off. An old hot tub usually has to be cut apart to get it out, which we handle as part of the removal.
Do you remove tile and carpet before new flooring goes in?
Yes β tile chipped out down to the substrate including thinset and backer, or carpet, pad, and tack strip pulled, with the floor left clean and ready for what goes down next. It's a common first step before a flooring install.
How much does demolition cost in Houston?
It depends on how much comes out, how heavy it is, how hard it is to access, and disposal fees β tile and concrete are heavy and cost more to haul. A single-room tear-out is a known number; a full gut scales from there. We quote after seeing what's coming out.
